Patents pending technology captures data analysis methods

Focus on innovate approaches improve wind asset maintenance, performance

July 23, 2020 (Buffalo, NY) – ACCIONA and Sentient Science have filed two patent applications related to determining asset health state and component life. The patent applications have been delivered through the“Turbines for Life” partnership, which was entered in 2015.

The first patent pending –METHODS AND SYSTEMS FOR PREDICTING RISK OF OBSERVABLE DAMAGE IN WIND TURBINE GEARBOX COMPONENTS – identifies a technical approach for fusing data collected in the field through operations and asset monitoring to significantly improve predictions for calculating asset health state and remaining life for wind turbines. These date points include field data, configuration data, maintenance event data, data science model outputs, physics model outputs, and other data sources.

The second patent pending – A METHOD FOR ESTIMATING REMAINING USEFUL LIFE OF COMPONENTS OF AN OPERATIONAL WIND TURBINE – delivers a novel approach to improving data correlation and model output by taking into account the turbine operation state.

Combining the concepts within these patent pending technologies with Sentient Science’s existing Intellectual Property and ACCIONA’s extensive data sets has demonstrated improved prediction results for fielded wind turbine assets. “The advancements in asset management decision-making delivered by these innovative methods hold the key to extending turbine life delivering real savings to customers and electrical system operators.” Says Stephane Attal, CEO of Sentient Science.
