Wind turbine operators are seeking solution(s) to extend the life of their mainshaft bearings that are failing prematurely from excessive wear and pitting. Rewitec CRODA developed GR400 grease additive treatment to improve performance and life extension of the mainshaft bearings. Over the years the company proved its capability to reduce surface roughness on bearings and gears in wind turbine field trials and tests, however, Rewitec was challenged on how to best use the mainshaft bearing treatment to maximize the customer’s return on investment.
