Engineer – Internship I Location: Buffalo, NY 

Sentient Science Corporation is a leader in predicting the durability and reliability of complex rotating equipment.The company’s technology works by modeling and simulating components and full systems within the aerospace, rail and wind energy industries. Our simulation and physics-based models enable users to optimize maintenance cycles and lower the pre and post installation costs of “rotating” systems, such as helicopters and wind turbines.

Responsibilities:

Sentient is looking for an individual with a strong numerical modeling background in material informatics, statistical methods, machine learning, signal processing, and/or design and optimization. The ideal candidate will be able to design, develop, and implement statistical methods under supervision, and support the effort of advancing the modeling of mechanical systems using data-based approaches.

  • Develop and implement data-driven models and algorithms for mechanical system applications
  • Support related R&D and commercial projects

Requirements: 

  • Full time UB graduate student in good academic standing
  • Masters or Ph.D. in engineering, statistics, computer science, or related discipline
  • Basic knowledge of statistical modeling
  • Hands-on experience with at least one programming language, Python, C/C++, R, etc.
  • Flexible and enthusiastic to work on various projects with an interdisciplinary team

Hours Per Week: 15 hours/week
